Patrick O'Rorke was in command of the 140th NY Infantry, 3 Brigade, Second Division, V Corps on 2 July. He was born in 1836 in County Cavan, Ireland. He grew up in Rochester, NY, and graduated from West Point in 1861. Commissioned 2d Lt. of Engineers, he was made colonel of the 140th in September 1862. He was killed on 2 July 1863 in the fighting on Little Round Top as his troops rushed to the aid of Strong Vincent's brigade.
